Slow cranking starter when hot
Webb8 juni 2024 · I’ve got .3 and .4 ohms of resistance. When cranking I’ve got .2 and .3 volts of resistance. Still cranking very slowly. Hardly enough to turn engine over. New battery, new starter. This is my second starter since the original one went out. After I replaced it with a new starter it spun very well started right up probably a handful of times. Webb11 juni 2016 · Cranks like mad and starts right up. When it gets hot or has been running for 10-15 minutes it is very hard to start. You may get ½ to 1 and ½ cranks on the engine and it does not turn. Cranks very hard when hot. I just replaced the starter thinking it was taking major heat sink and may have had a dead spot in it when hot.

I have read on another forum that this could be caused by a heat soaked starter / solenoid. It's not that bad, but it clearly doesn't sound good and if it gets worse over time, then I'll start having issues to start. The issue is not that it doesn´t start when cold, but slow cranking.
