Web25 Mar 2015 · As far as ether or propane goes, spend a little time at your local truck/farm tire dealer and you'll see plenty of this in use to seat the tires. Granted these guys are experienced and do it on a regular basis so I definitely wouldn't (and didn't) recommend this practice. Web16 Mar 2015 · Hey guys, so few weeks ago i mounted my 44s on my new rims. I mounted them by ether, and all 4 worked out good, then i came back to my ppace ane i found one unbeaded and flat. This has happened 3 times on same wheel. The tires have minimql to no dry rot. Help needed quick thanks. Web21 Mar 2012 · Use a flat head tool, or a hook and pry up on the top side of the tire bead and pump it full of air. It sounds difficult but its your best shot before trying the ether trick.... When I was working for the school, we had allot of Firestone tires / they where the cheapest on the government program / I told the super, I needed to buy a air cannon to seat beads with. He asked what the old mechanic had used, I showed him the ether trick. WebA truck tire is resisting seating at the bead. WebWe used any product containing ether - usually old school carburetor starter fluid. Of course, when you spray accelerant onto a rubber tire you might get a slight surface fire on the outside of the tire which you can simply fan away with a rag or towel. This stuff burns and evaporates extremely fast so the fire basically puts itself out.
