I wouldn't worry, I think I bled (lightly - a bit stop / start like you describe, but still sometimes proper red bleeding) for about 7 weeks after my (emergency) c-section. I remember asking GP at 6 week check if it was ok, and being told that it was absolutely fine as long as not v heavy / vey large clots.
