Once your rings fail you I would definately spend the extra dough and put the cudney piston and ring kit in. Performance wise held rock steady 8000 with track speeds in the steep climbs and 2ft of powder coming in at 43-46mph. Very happy. 2nd set up was DJ's new helix and 15.3 with the same elevations. That is a sure fire indication that the rings are gone. The compression will still be within spec, but if you tear down the engine you will find that the rings are flaking.
